Thanks Jam, I feel so fortunate I have him because when I told him my doubts he was willing to read COC and we walked away together. Our marriage even when we were JW's was an equal one and he never lorded it over me. I am so strong willed that I would never have put up with it.

Curious..What advice will you receive, religious marriage counsel vs certified marriage counsel ?
by jam infor example, abusiveness in the relationship.
us here were counsel by someone affiliated with some religion.
organization, a minister..most likely you were told, to pray on it... but if the husband is beating the living day-light out of his wife,.

A therapist with a degree in psycology will never tell you to stay with an abuse mate nore will they tell you to hit them with a frying pan. They will help you get stronger so you can make a wise decision and if he is abusive they will encourage you to find a safe place or even help you find a shelter.
When I was a JW I would never have trusted an elder with any type of marriage therapy. We went to a therapist because I was so depressed and my husband wanted to make sure we got the help we needed and what it did for us changed our life for the better. It helped me to get much stronger and I was able to say what I thought of the religion and we both left together with a strong marriage of 32 years intact.
There are many great therapists out there but it is like anything else, sometimes you have to check out a few before you find someone who is willing to do the work with you.

Welcome! Your English is very good. We look forward to hearing more from you. You will find the more research you do the more courage you will have to make healthy life choices. I founf this site to be very informative but also Jwfacts.com and JWSurvery.org is very helpful too. There are some great books out on the market and Youtube videos about the truth about the JW's. The more you learn the happier your life will become. If you need some recommendations just private message me and I will recomment them for you.

There is a sister in her 80's who was called on at the WT study During the CO's visit. There was something about gay people in the study and she came right out and said that gays need to dress a certain way so we know who they are because she wanted to be able to identify them. I was so disgusted because no one corrected that statement.

The last DC we went to one of the speakears said "you should listen and do what the elders tell you to do". We left early because I couldn't sit in the hard seats but when I got in the car the first thing my husband said was that statement. He was so angry over it we did not go to the Sat or Sun program.

Blonde I live close to an Amish community and have read a number of books about them along with the TV show you mentioned. What is so sad they are not equiped to live in the outside world so when they leave most can't even drive a car and they have no idea how to live in society because they are so isolated. Many of them end up in serious car accidents because they don't understand it is not like driving a horse and buggy. From what I have read most go back because they can't function in this society.

A JW encounter in Hong Kong
by Listener inlast week i was in hong kong on a holiday and ran into some jws.
i was in a large shopping mall and noticed a number of jws holding out a pamphlet to passerbys.
before i knew it there was one walking towards me and stopped right in front of me stopping me from moving forward.. the jw was virtually shoving the pamphlet towards me and said i would like to offer you this pamphlet that directs you to a web site that will answer all your questions that you have about life.

I think you did a great job talking to them. Maybe they will look up the info and it will make them think. The elders must be getting info from the WTBTS about "outside" material. It seems that the elders always ask that question when someone brings up false teachings. When I was in I never heard anyone ask that question.

Herbalife and the Watchtower Comparison, Herba-life is under attack!
by BucketShopBill injws are, i think they are more like "herba-drones" it's been on the news as a massive war with a billionaire who is trying to expose it as a cult company.. http://www.benzinga.com/media/cnbc/14/08/4799559/scott-wapner-believes-that-bill-ackman-is-increasing-his-short-position-in-.
herbalife has it's people believe it's products can extend life (jws believe their teachings will bring "everlasting life") and tell you to hit everyone up you know to buy these life-saving products.
jws tell you to preach to your family and workmates, everyone is fair game to herba-drones and jw-drones, nobody is safe unless your a nutritionist (ex-jw with wisdom) who knows they sell a bogus emotion and worthless products.. .

I am sure you wish you would have listen to that information back then. Sometimes people have to be ready to hear it. My husband and I came out at 56 and 58 years of age and we have done it together. We are just thankful we finally woke up before we spent our whole life in! You are right, we are enjoying life and doing a lot of traveling and fun things together. There definately is life after a cult if you take advantage of all the wonderful things life has to offer.

Wife got love bombed!
by lambsbottom inso i have been doing a 90 day fast from anything jw related.
getting close to 2 months in.
went to a baptist service this morning.

They may love bomb your wife but it will not last. Try to get her involved in other activities so she can meet other women with children. The JW's are a very unhealthy religion and it may very well be that the congregation she is going to are not friendly or accept outsiders.
You mentioned you may go back, have you read JWFacts.com or Crisis of Consciense? Reading them will really help you to make a wise decision.
When I started my fade my "best friend" in the hall said just about the exact same thing they said to your wife. She went on and on about how I was her best friend. I was going through radiation at the time and that phone conversation was the last time I ever talked to her which was more than 2 years ago. Now that is what you call a "friend"!
